A Smethport youth about 24 years old died instantly when a car struck him at a grade crossing near Wright Hoe Hill as he walked along the road. The car, driven by Howell, halted after the impact. the victim, identified as Lauren How pits, was taken from the scene but expired before reaching home. Coroner Sherman of Radford opened an investigation, with several witnesses describing the fatal crash.
