Will Cite Owner Of Car Involved In Local Crash

Corry police identified the owner of a car that struck John C. Edwards’s vehicle on East Main Street last Saturday. Lester V. Hepler of 709 Diberty Street is charged for failure to locate or identify the unattended vehicle. Hepler said his car was being driven by a man from Jamestown named Pete, who has not yet been found. Information was filed with Alderman George Gordon.

College Freshman Dies After Police Confrontation

Indiana college freshman Lynn Kaufmann 19 of Johnstown fatally shot himself after an attempted hotel holdup in the Tudiana Hotel Bertram lobby. Two Bona officers responding to the scene fired. Kaufmann died at Indiana Hospital. Hotel clerk John Gray, struck by the gunman, received stitches and was treated. Kaufmann, a transfer student at Indiana State Teachers College, had earlier graduated from Ferndale High School in Johnstown.
