Philadelphia Armory reception for Pershing and city officials
Reading like a patchwork of notes, the item recalls Brigadier General Rickards hosting part of the reception committee for General John J. Pershing during a Philadelphia stop on his New York to Washington trek. The report names local officials including Governor, the mayor Blaine Sproul, and Adjutant Colonel of the 16th Pennsylvania Infantry among committee members, with scattered references to other military and civic figures and upcoming civic events.

Social Notes Of The Day At Maccabees Hall
Sixty couples attended the social last evening in Maccabees hall under Athletic Association auspices. Messenger's orchestra provided music and the event featured lively sociability. Reports from county convention delegates were promised. meetings and gatherings of Scott and Barton groups were noted. Rebekah Lodge activities attracted large attendance and discussions on home and Odd Fellows matters continued. A celebration for Rebekah anniversary was announced for Friday September with a literary program and supper. Mrs. A Munger led a pleasant closing session and distributed Canadian keepsakes to officers. A reference laments selfishness as a fault in society.
