Postpone Trial in 1965 Union City Killing
The trial of Ronald Hamerick 29 Centerville for the 1965 slaying of Hazel L Karfess Union City is postponed to about November 18 in Erie County Court. The delay follows the absence of Dr John P Shovlin Farview State Hospital superintendent who was to testify. Hamerick was declared mentally competent to stand trial this year after hospital confinement since the murder. He faces charges of killing Hazel Karfess and stabbing her daughter Sharon Karfess.
