Rev Shaw Returns to Local Churches in Erie Conference

The Erie Annual Conference of the Methodist Church announced appointments after days of option. Rev Hey, G. Shaw was returned to Corry Pa to serve Woodly parish and Columbus and North Corry churches. J Z Lambert was reassigned to Millville church.

Meadville Boy Shot Self While Hunting

Clayton Karns aged 16 son of Mr and Mrs Peter Karns accidentally shot and killed himself this afternoon near Vernon township Meadville United Press reports. He and a companion were shooting at a mark when a log seat startled a bird. Karns tried to lift the gun toward the bird and discharged it hitting his heart. The companion ran for help but the boy was dead on discovery.

Water Co Begins Actual Work On New Extension

A crew of sight men began work today on the Corry Water Supply Company extension in the First ward. The $4,500 project adds about three thousand feet of main and two hundred feet on Bat Street. Currently only about a dozen families on the route will benefit initially, with more expected once service is ready. City officials anticipate extended protection and rate adjustments. All materials have arrived and work should be completed in a few weeks amid cloudy weather tonight and Tuesday.

First Trout Shipments Began Today

Superintendent Buller noted the initial trout shipments from the Corry Hatchery started this morning with a dozen cans sent to Warren county. Tonight another large shipment will depart for Jefferson county, with more consignments planned daily until the 1.5 million fish are distributed. Officials expect capacity to double, aiming for three million young trout and further pond additions before winter and spring expansions.

Hunters to spend weeks in Canada with Keppell party

Harrison Keppell of this city, with Charles and Joe Moore of Garland, planned a several week Canada hunting trip. The Moores left Garland by car to catch the morning train to Buffalo and join Mr Keppell for the expedition.

Fire destroys vast farm buildings in Columbus area

A fire at a farm two miles from Columbus destroyed a large barn and silos, causing an estimated loss over seven thousand dollars. Sparks from an engine used to fill silos ignited the blaze as cows, hay, and grain burned. six calves and one driving horse perished. Firefighters and local crowds could not save the property, with rebuilding expected to cost much more.
