A massive blast at Eastman Kodak Co coating plant No 26 in Rochester destroys the building. Six workers are dead and about 14 injured, with three in critical condition. ambulances rush there as debris and shattered windows signal widespread damage. Details remain scarce amid conflicting reports.

Earlier Lebrix and Doret hold the 6486 mile closed circuit record while Coste Bellonte set the prior straight line distance from Paris to New York and the US retook the record from Russia.

A subordinate assessor admitted inserting 922 fraudulent names after receiving list from Paul Walsh. Five men including Tony Siaito and Tony Silid, aides to John J.
