The action follows a directive from U.S. District Judge Royal Davies ordering school integration. The petition names Governor Faubus, General Sherman Clinger and Lt. Col. Marion B. Johnson among those to restrain.

Corry school directors approved adding a fifth member to the wage tax committee a disinterested private citizen to break the deadlock over tax collection matters. The new member joins Mayor Earl T. Cherry and Guy Abbey from the city, and Elwin Fuller and Robert Ott for the school board. Five local men have applied for wage tax collector. The board also set per capita taxes for 1958 57 and reported 196 000 in taxes collected. Treasurer Carl Smith noted new investment in U S Treasury Bills and interest earnings of 117. A letter from architect Henry Gray asked delaying emergency lighting for Hatch building until required by the state. Superintendent L M Douglas the Wright School and Hatch project remains under review.

Judge Edwin M. Clarke of Tulliana County permits a newspaper photographer to take pictures during the murder trial of Barry Gates. Photographer Frank Sipos of the Indiana Gazette may shoot as long as it does not interfere with court procedure.
In Rolland Town area Blair County eleven infirmary patients were carried to safety as fire erupted in a 24 year old wing of the Presbyterian Home. Another 47 residents evacuated from the wing. No injuries reported among the women residents. Infirmary patients moved to Blair County Valley View Home in Altoona. Emergency crews battled the blaze for hours. power failure slowed evacuation. Names of four evacuated patients listed. Huntingdon Presbytery oversees the home serving multiple counties.
Police reinforced in Birmingham Alabama as Negroes press to enroll in all white schools. A Negro leader pledged to halt enrollment per police orders pending board action. Rev Shuttleworth warned he will be stopped if he attempts another bid. Shuttlesworth was beaten while trying to enroll his children. Cross burnings and rock threats reported near Woodlawn High. Board to study petitions under the state school placement law and report back.
Two westbound cars collided five miles west of Warren injuring a 15 year old passenger and causing about $2,000 in damage. John Zamborik, 29, of Columbus, and Richard Danusk of Pittsfield, were in the Zamberli vehicle. Mary Bobash of RD 4 Pittsfield was taken to Warren General Hospital for head injuries.
The Sparta Community Fair opens Thursday at Sparta High School grounds in Spartansburg, running through Saturday with queen crowning at 8 p.m. Exhibits start at 9 a.m. daily, with athletic contests, free acts, amusements, and various stands. A city cyclist named Fitch sustained bruises after being struck by a car at the North Center and East Smith streets intersection while crossing on a green light. He was taken to Corry Memorial Hospital. no fractures were found, but minor injuries noted to his left knee and right ankle. The auto damage was estimated at 80 dollars and police investigated.
