The Corry Chamber, led by manager Michael DeCorte, announces continuation of the I Believe In Corry promotion features. City Council authorizes ongoing free weekend parking on Fridays five to nine and Saturdays all day in downtown for shoppers. Farmers Market extension also under review, with vendors and buyers meeting Saturdays as weather allows.

In a crowded Democratic field mayoral race New York saw a near split led by Koch and Cuomo in a runoff set for Sept. 19. Beame finished third with Abzug 17 percent and Abzug conceded while Beame, the city’s first Jewish mayor, called for support toward a future leader. turnout reached a record 789,133 with Koch 20 percent, Cuomo 19 percent, Beame 18 percent, Abzug 17 percent. Goodman led Republicans with 44,459 votes.
Shortly before noon today Athletic Director Jerry Hushin announced the Seneca at Corry football game has been postponed. The game will be played tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock due to lights failing at Howard Sheen Field. A splicing effort did not fix the problem.
Ohio health officials report Riverside Methodist Hospital diagnosed a 79-year-old Columbus woman as the state's fifth Legionnaires disease case. A blood sample was sent to the CDC with about 200 others. one death in Ohio is linked to the outbreak.
