Windswept Pacific Holds Fate of Fliers
In Japan at Orio near Sapishiro beach aviators Don Moyle and Cecil A. Allen attempt a nonstop flight to Seattle. Twenty hours into the mission the North Pacific winds and remote radio logs yield no word as ships on the great circle route fail to sight the monoplane. If Moyle’s 105 mph pace holds, the pair would have covered over a third of the 4,500 miles, placing them near the Aleutian western tip.
