North Korean retreat and U S forces press Taegu area
North Korean Fifth Division began a general retreat north of Pohang as South Korean forces and First Cavalry Division attackers moved toward strategic overlooks along the Naktong River. Waegwan near Taegu is cited as secured amid reports of Red tank losses and air force claims of destroying several tanks and attacking units in the opening day of the engagement.

Local Schools Retain Staff Amid District Roundup
In Cole Hill on Tuesday Pittsfield and Garland schools will operate with the same teachers as last year. The day also featured a 4 H Calf Club round up in New Bethlehem with members Junior Leotsky Charles Camp Jr and Fraine Camp attending. A deer accident on Route 27 near the Andy Zolka farm killed a deer after a car struck it. Road work on Route 27 widened the road and laid a blacktop surface. Other notes include a Cole family reunion planned for September 23 at the Galand Community House and several local visits and births.

Titusville Resident Dies at Local Hospital
Titusville resident Miller Drusko died yesterday afternoon at Corry Hospital where he had been admitted August 30. Born September 11, 1885 in Lipoge lava Yugoslavia, he came to the United States in 1912 and lived in Brownsville, later moving to Titusville in 1934. He is survived by his wife Frances, two sons John and Stephen, a daughter Mrs Dorothy Andriot, all of Titusville, plus other relatives. The funeral will be Monday at 9 AM at St Titus Church, of which he was a member.
