Truman’s Korea War Address Sets U S Course

President Truman will declare the United States had no alternative but to send troops to Korea. The message, to be broadcast from the White House at 9 p.m. Eastern, frames U S action as a response to Communist aggression and a bid to defend world peace. Three Corryites Injured In One Car Crash

Three Corry residents were hurt in a single car accident west of the city late yesterday. J B Mixer 22 West Sasquar Street drove west toward the highway when his Nash Refan skidded on a slippery curve, crossed rails, and rolled to a stop. Mrs Root and Miss Wellman suffered serious injuries with burns contusions and possible fractures. Mrs Root had a severe laceration. All three were taken to Corry Hospital. others were discharged after treatment. State Police investigated the crash and listed the Nash as damaged.

Slippery Road Crash Blamed On Oil Spill On Highway

Two accidents on the Clymer Sherman highway late yesterday afternoon were linked to slick roads caused by oil on the surface. Morris Bird Jr. of Texas escaped injury after his 46 Buick burned and slid off the road. Morris Bird Sr. and Albert Wiggers were nearby as the truck of Floyd Studd skidded into a ditch. Studd was uninjured and damage to the two and a half ton Reo was minor. Several other unnamed accidents were reported as rain fell on the slick pavement.

Quartermaster Unit To Be First Sent To Camp

The Quartermaster Company of Pennsylvania's 28th Cantry Division will be the first unit to depart for Camp Atterbury Indiana. The division and rest of the unit were inducted into Federal service on September 5.
