A 21 year old Vorryive, married and father of three, was arrested in Esso Hall Restaurant for malicious mischief after he broke stems from artificial flowers. Ronald A. Hethilton of R. D. J. Corry pleaded guilty at Alderman Porter Auer's hearing, was fined ten dollars, and ordered to pay nine dollars costs plus three dollars to Floyd Marsh for the damaged flowers. He was released afterward.
In Smithton Pennsylvania a 13 year old, Kenzie Ritenour, rescued his 2 year old brother Walter after they fell into a 20 foot well. The younger boy was saved after both boys slipped twice. Walter was treated for severe shock and head injuries and rushed to a Mount Pleasant hospital. The family, visiting relatives near Smithton, credited the heroic act to Kenzie.
