Two brothers Subday discovered debris likely from an F-102 Delta Dagger that crashed into Lake Erie on April 25, 1959. The find near Walnut Creek in 70 feet of water led federal agencies to consider whether to launch a formal Air Force investigation and potential diving for the wreckage. Lt. Joseph McCline, 24, of Ohio was the pilot. the remains of the jet and most of the body have not been recovered.
LALEHAM England AP report says Mr and Mrs E H Blacket received a distress call on their TV screen with three short bursts three long three short Morse code S O S. Blacket opened the door and, from the Thames River bank, heard 8 0 8 signals and found Miss Bay Strongrome 21 trapped in an electric wheelchair. Police aided in extricating her.
In Falconer an 8 year old girl, Christine Meyers, died after being struck on Route 17 by a speeding car in heavy rain. The driver James Wy Schnars remained at the scene and is being investigated for accidental death. In Pittsburgh a boy, Michael LeMark, 8, was killed by a hit and run on the North Side while trick or treating. His cousin Rita LeMark, 13, was injured. the driver fled and police seek the suspect.
Erie Thruway tragedy reports the first fatality of the route after a two truck crash three miles west of Fairview. Brooks R. Wilson, 45, of Akron, Ohio, died from severe head injuries and possible neck fracture. Fire crews towed him from the cab, and his body was taken to Mulligan Funeral Home. Tehran
The Defense Department released $185 million to the Air Force for B70 supersonic bomber development, leaving $29 million unused from Congress funding. The move signals acceptance of Congress backing production. The $15 million could finance 12 BT prototype aircraft.
City police logged four minor Halloween incidents with no major damage. A 65 West Columbus woman reported a scuffle involving two-year-old youths who grabbed her son’s trick or treat bag. officers spoke with parents who promised candy to the victims. A late model convertible was reported stopping in front of 404 West Washington. someone in a light sweater smashed a jack o lantern and fled. Charles Deutschlander reported a bruise from an alleged blow by William Cochran of 105 Snyder Circle.
GOP candidate Richard M. Nixon visited Lancaster and Erie and planned stops with Eisenhower’s support in Pennsylvania to win the state's two electoral votes. Nixon spoke to crowds in Northeast Airport rain and urged voters not to be complacent. Senator Lyndon B. Johnson was set for Erie, while Henry Cabot Lodge skipped the Pennsylvania trip.
New York political rally on Saturday night at 103rd Street and Lexington Avenue drew two defendants, Gerardo Cartagena and Ralph Bonet, who faced disorderly conduct charges after claiming they were booed at Governor Rockefeller. Tass says he was trained in West Germany and infiltrated Minsk to gather secrets, with accomplices named Melekh and Hirsch linked to FBI arrests in New York. The case notes he possessed no radios or codes at arrest and cites nine months of espionage training including pistol shooting and parachute jumping.

New York reports former diplomat Mauricio Rosal, 47, arrested October 3 on heroin trafficking charges. He lacked diplomatic immunity as he was not accredited to the country. Prosecutors say Rosal acted as courier for a multistate heroin ring linked to Trans World Airways personnel in Paris and New York. Federal agents found 116 pounds of heroin in his possession at arrest.

Officials reported slow counting as rain soaked volunteers and 120 participants at events across Wright, Harding, St Edward's, St Pauls, and First Presbyterian.
