Reports from London disclose that Britain’s former prime minister died after a prolonged illness from septic pneumonia. The influential leader, who guided wartime policy and domestic affairs, had suffered a relapse after retirement and illness intensified in recent months.
The Needlework Guild of America announces its Halloween relief drive in Corry with a November 14 event. Members urged to donate two dollars or ten cents monthly, with proceeds funding local toy and holiday projects and a Halloween parade and dance at the Presbyterian church hall.
Special to the Journal from Columbus Oregon reports a mild measles outbreak and scattered scarlet fever cases in Molninhus school neighborhood. Officials warn of potential spread but expect limited illness as classes may remain closed briefly to prevent transmission.
Farner H. Ich, longtime Buffalo resident and prominent builder, died at his home Sunday October 26. He directed construction of the Commercial Hotel and operated several ventures in Buffalo. Surviving are his wife and daughter. Funeral services will be held at Conception Church in Buffalo Wednesday morning. Interment in Buffalo.
The R Rogers Company plans another expansion to its radiator plant. A new building 160 feet wide will be completed within weeks, adding storage and facilities while retaining two existing units. The expansion aims to support upcoming projects and ongoing development through early next year with phased construction and related building operations.

YARRISBURG October 30 Mon November 12 was proclaimed a holiday by Governor Pinchot today in observance of Armistice Day which fell on Sunday. John Kine went to Jamestown marking on business.
The Halloween opening party for the fine new chuthowee at Sorry County Club drew Jarge, 116 guests, and out of town friends. Dancers entertained as Miss Lucia Mucktenaie and others led a masquerade, with music by the Gypsy dance troupe. Prizes were awarded for costumes, a buffet supper was served, and dancing continued until late. Notables from Hornell and Los Angeles attended, along with local members and guests.
Standish of Williamsport Rotary spoke at the weekly Corry luncheon at Phoenix Hall. He outlined the Boy Scout movement in the city, its self sustaining progress, and benefits for underprivileged children. Rotary Quartet provided music. A. Olt left on a brief business trip.

A blast hit the home of Felix Pluckowite in Nort Hen ch near Oil City, demolishing the structure and shattering windows for a quarter mile. Four members of the Pluckowite family reportedly escaped unharmed, while authorities consider whether the explosion was caused by a bomb.
