Harrisburg oct 29 Pennsylvania shows a substantial rise in farm numbers and acreage since 1940 per the 1945 census of agriculture. Farms climbed 5.5 percent to 178,300 and farm land area rose 5.4 percent to 15,382,360 acres while average farm size edged down from 88.3 to 86.2 acres. Major gains occurred in Westmoreland and Bradford counties with losses in Berks and Wayne counties. John P. Guyer led the state enumeration with headquarters in Harrisburg.

Titusville Man Hurt In Unusual Accident
Mark Gray was bumped and knocked down by a drunken man near Pleasantville on West Spring Street at 6 30 p m Saturday. He endured severe pain and a taxi ambulance carried him to the hospital where doctors planned X rays to assess a possible broken hip. Police were alerted but the aggressor fled. Gray may pursue charges if he wishes.

Rescued From Burning Truck Near Erie
Erie, Pa. Oct. 8 Elon Wehling of Buffalo Minnesota was severely injured today when his truck and another collided 14 miles west of here. Wehling’s truck caught fire and passing motorists pulled him out but extinguished the blaze. The truck driver escaped.
