In Cleveland the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company faced labor pressure as it moves warehouse stacks to Pittsburgh and contemplates suspending operations. Unions seek full unionization while workers scramble to regain jobs amid the dispute and looming federal labor board proceedings.
The regional labor board intervenes in the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company dispute to prevent moving 800 stores from Cleveland. Workers are stripping warehouses of food and fixtures as Ralph Lind, board chairman, proposes a six point peace plan to resolve tensions.
Thousands of dollars worth of foodstuffs stored in company warehouses will be moved to Pittsburgh the nearest distributing point. More than 2,000 employees were laid off as A and P ends operations here to avoid further labor conflict. A telegram from discharged workers to President Roosevelt urged intervention. Labor groups in Milwaukee and Racine planned strikes in response to closing meat departments in 261 stores.
About 140 nurses interns and other staff at the University of Michigan were recovering today from effects believed caused by chicken salad served in the dining room last night. Bruno Richard Hauptmann, awaiting trial for the Lindbergh baby murder, showed emotional strain when his one month old son Mannfried visited him in Hunterdon county jail. Hauptmann’s wife Anna met him without the child, prompting him to plead to allow the baby’s return. his mood shifted from stoic to tearful as the family cried together.
About 40 000 people attended the funeral for Charles Pretty Boy Floyd in Oklahoma. Family and mourners filled the cemetery as the outlaw, killed by federal agents in Ohio, was buried beside his father and brother. Mrs Ruby Floyd and members of Floyd’s kin attended, while ministers quoted scripture and reflected on Floyd’s life.
A group of Iseal coon hunters uncovered a case of loot from a camp near Blie Bye about one week ago. Stolen items include utensils and silverware hidden along the highway, with a visible hiding spot likely discovered as hunters approached.

Teubenville Ohio October 29 David D Ascanio a steel mill worker was found guilty of the phantom murder of a Wheeling steel mill employee in a case filled with mystery. The seven man five woman jury recommended mercy and the judge said sentence would be passed this afternoon. D Ascanio showed no emotion as Foreman Alonzo McCue read the verdict.
Fred Bennett formerly of Corry now of Brocton was injured in an automobile crash near Clymer Saturday evening. He suffers a severe scalp laceration and minor injuries. condition improved today with expected early discharge. Several weekend accidents were reported as rain turned to wet snow affecting visibility.
In Bradford Pa on October 28 the coroner planned an inquest into the death of Jane Shoup of Steam Valley New York. The victim was a father of nine children, one four weeks old. He died in Park Allegany Hospital from injuries after being struck by an automobile allegedly driven by Joseph Fields Jr of Smethport. No arrest has been made.

Sir Chavies Kingsford Smith and Capt. P. G. Taylor landed the Lady Southern Cross at Wheeler Army Air Field Honolulu to complete the Fiji to Naselai Beach water hop of about 3100 miles on their Brisbane to California trans ocean flight. The takeoff was at 10 10 a m Sunday PST.

Administrations and bankers seek cooperation on FERA and PWA costs while budgeting remains tight for 18 months. Erie Pa Oct 29 Physicians evaluated the injuries of Ella Welcox a 29 year old North East Pa school teacher hurt when the auto she rode in was struck by a New York Central freight train at a North East grade crossing. She was rushed to a hospital and her condition was not immediately determined.
In Chicago on October 29 the government unexpectedly rested its case against Samuel Insull and 16 others in federal court. Insull, once ruler of a vast utility empire, faces charges over a 143 million dollar fraud through Corporation Securities Company investments. The abrupt end aimed to influence juror perception of a dire directors meeting in 1932.
Republican candidate for Congress Will Rose is listed among speakers at a meeting Tuesday evening at the Municipal building. Other participants include Pitt Gifford attorney Mrs Helen Schlurait county commissioner Juri Heli county chairman and Mrs F Austin vice chair of the county committee. Rose and visiting Republican leaders will be guests of the Corry Branch Erie County Council of Republican Women at Hotel Corry.
