Audie Barrett, 11, of Nashville, died of lobar pneumonia four hours after his iron lung was rendered useless when Nashville Electric Service disconnected power. His mother and five siblings had just moved in. officials failed to notify the utility. The medical examiner said the pneumonia predated the power loss and would not have been prevented by electricity.
