Willis Says House Panel Won’t Answer Shelton Charges
Washington AP Chairman Edwin E Willis of the House Un American Activities Committee says the panel will not dignify charges against Ku Klux Klan leader Robert M Shelton by answering them under oath. Investigator Donald Y Appell plans to testify to challenge Shelton’s statements at a news conference in a Capitol Hill hotel. Shelton had declined to answer questions when previously subpoenaed, claiming a conspiracy to imply misused Klan funds.
