Justice Joseph Cresciman in Lawrence Park held hearings for Al and Pete Marty on bribery and conspiracy charges. One bribery count against Pete Marty was dropped, leaving five bribery and one conspiracy count. Bond continued as they await grand jury action on six bribery and one conspiracy charges.
Four feared dead after fire at the Colorado Hotel during a midnight storm. Firefighters recovered AR Trice, 10, and Lonnie Mize, 90, while Eva Debout owner reported seven other guests safe, with NE Ladd about 70 and Al Cups about 53 listed as missing or injured. Mrs Debout indicated 13 guests accounted for and uninjured.
President Eisenhower said he is puzzled by voter apathy and may undertake a one day campaign trip to four airfields. Greensburg Pennsylvania. Cpl Joseph Lightcap 18 held without bail on murder charge in the rifle slaying of his stepmother Mrs Russell Lighter. Lightcap aairman was bound over for the Westmoreland County grand jury after the 22 caliber rifle discharged during a quarrel when she tried to take the weapon away.
Mrs Mary Black 93 a Longtime Youngsville resident died instantly when struck on Main Street by a Greyhound bus heading east. She waited for buses to pass then walked into the street without looking, the coroner reported. Survived by three sons James Fred Floyd, six grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Funeral services at 2 p m Friday at the Youngsville funeral home with Rev G C Ross of the Youngsville Church in charge. Interment in Youngsville Cemetery.
Meadvill e area case details Erie County term pending. Jack Ward 28 of Ripley, sentenced by Judge Herbert A. Mook to 24 s to 5 years for five burglaries and larceny and one burglary in Crawford County. Concurrent 21 to 8 years in Erie County term to run after. Ward linked to several break ins including Young Brothers Store, a gas station, and a railroad station with co defendant Robert Lennenbull. Ward’s sentence runs when prior Erie County term ends.
The Corry Area Schools Authority announced its annual meeting will be held tomorrow night at the Corr Public Library Building. Newly elected members and officers will be installed and voting will occur on yearlong business including BITS and current officer matters.
