The State Civil Service Commission began reestablishing all promotional lists per a Supreme Court decision. First rosters for accounting jobs from the August 1950 examination are being revised, and letters to candidates were mailed. The September 4 ruling cut ten veteran points from final scores, affecting promotions under the Veterans Preference Act.
One North East Plan shows growers finishing harvest report tonnage not more than 65 percent of the estimate while another notes growers, now chronet, delivering about 90 percent of estimates. Both say early-harvest growers often have smaller acreage and do not reflect overall tonnage.

An explosion of unknown origin yesterday night at about 10:15 p.m. destroyed the six–room house owned by Verne Rodgers in Rouseville. Firefighters battled the blaze for hours after rescuing from a prior Wood fire in Henrys Bend. The dwelling was total loss except for one standing wall. contents and personal belongings of the Rodgers family were destroyed. Mr. and Mrs. Rodgers and their children are staying with Rodgers’ mother at Clapp Farm.
