Fine Area Men In Spotlight Killing Of Deer

Two area men, Gerald Bauer and Louis Kuss, were fined 100 each and lost hunting privileges for three years after admitting to the spotlight killing of a deer Monday night near Lindsey Hollow. A .270 rifle with scope was recovered from a car. Kuss owned the weapon and later verified the deer was killed with a spotlight. Deputies were assisted by game officers Dow Part and Cecil Sims.

State Police report a two vehicle crash near Speraya Pa killed a woman passenger, Mary George, 65, of Altoona instantly. The accident left no further details available.

Miner Killed in Cavern Near Pottsville

Joseph Hartnick aged 54 of New Minersville died yesterday in a mine cavern near Pottsville Schuylkill County. Retimbering workers Bartnick and Albert Dombroski of Cressona were in the gangway when the sides caved in Dombroski escaped unharmed Bartnick was trapped beneath rock coal and debris about two feet underground.
