Four year old Stephen Milliron son of Mr and Mrs Lawrence Milliron died at St Marys Paul Memorial Hospital after a badly mangled foot injury at play near home. Doctors cited pulmonary edema as the cause. No witnesses to the incident and the child could not explain what happened. The injury occurred four days prior and he was moved from Kane Community Hospital to St Marys.

The 98 nation body places top priority on disarmament while a wrangle shifts Africa aid to second and Algeria independence to third. The Soviet Union pushes for immediate resumption of talks, while the United States and Western allies demand preconditioned control machinery ahead of pledges. Nigeria's push reshapes agenda.
The International Union of Electrical Workers IUE GE Conference Board authorized its negotiators to settle if a contract offer met key terms. President James B Carey said the union is authorized to conclude a settlement, signaling openness to a quick end to the three week walkout if GE shifts position.
Au gust Berendes a 31 year old cement worker and his female companion sailed from Hamburg in a folding boat planning a river and canal journey to the Mediterranean then Israel. The craft capsized in the Elbe near the yacht club and Berendes drowned while the woman was rescued. A separate report says a trench collapse killed Caritore Caldwell in a Metro area work site as heavy machinery and 100 volunteers failed to save him.
Longshoremen and the Pacific Maritime Association reach a six year mechanization pact for West Coast ports. Employers will contribute four million dollars annually to a workers benefit fund, in return the ILWU waives work restrictions on crane handling and other gear. Wages will be reopened each year, with a weekly wage guarantee and retirement benefits when eligible.
Kenneth Kunter, 16, of Sugar Grove, is in Warren General Hospital in critical condition after a one car crash half a mile east of Sugar Grove. Gary Stewart, 15, also hospitalized with multiple contusions, is in good condition. State Police believe Kunter was driving when the vehicle ran off a curve, struck a tree, and returned to the highway.
Credit unions in Corry's four major plants will observe a day honoring their service. Aero Supply Curry Jamestown Ajax Tron Works and Raymond division of Associated Spring report members benefiting from union loans and savings, aiding incidents from car trouble to college funds and down payments on homes. Betty Utterback 21 aided by a bank employee signaled trouble during an attempted kidnapping of her 2 month old daughter Cynthia. FBI agents nabbed James Reinhardt 24 of Ventura as he fled with the woman. Cynthia was found hungry in a motel room after the failed abduction.
Mahoney 44 of South Registous was arrested by State Police on October 26 for drunken driving hit and run and no driver's license. He pleaded guilty to three charges and was fined 100 dollars plus 69 dollars costs or 28 months in Erie County jail. He had prior sentences from October 6 and a judge ordered payment of the fine with jail time for nonpayment.
