Delegation At PSEA Convention In Warren Attends Zone Meeting

Upward of fifty Corry public school teachers joined about eight hundred others at the Seventh Sanus convention of the Northwest District Pennsylvania State Education Association in Warren. Sessions featured addresses by M. S. Bent and Ray Hansen, with music by Warren groups. Various department chairmen and educators from Erie, Grove City, Titusville, and Warren participated in the program and adjournment followed the business session.

Fifteen More Indicted At Pittsburgh Today

Fifteen persons were indicted by the grand jury today, bringing total indictments for election irregularities in the September primary to 59. Included are six Home Stoke residents, three police officers, five election officials, two McKeen rocks residents, a Braddock voter repeater, and six others in Pittsburgh.

Breakout at Lan Cantor: Two Escape with Hostages

In Loudonville Ohio on October 17 a break occurred at an industrial site. Three inmates or suspects reportedly moved against a guard, bound one guard and two others, and escaped with two unwilling companions. Police actions are underway to recapture them.

Fruit-motivated burglar hits Maple Avenue home

Police seek a purloiner described as fond of canned fruit after a morning break in at Hr. G. Millers 128 Maple Avenue. About 40 in cash, a diamond ring, and several cans of fruit and vegetables were taken from a pocketbook and sideboard. Entrance gained via a bay window. The thief escaped before Mrs. Miller reached the basement. Another fruit theft in the ward previously raised concerns. Police report no strong clues and suspect familiarity with the house and Mr. Miller’s absence on business.

Subscriptions Urged to Boost Corry Relief Fund

Corry Relief Fund leaders plan to ask subscribers to raise pledges as total contributions near $8,000. A Relief Fund committee meeting in the Municipal building reported progress and stressed the need for additional small pledges in all wards to meet winter relief needs.

Five Neutral Nations Urge Latin Pact To Ease Chaco War

Five neutral states led by the United States and including Mexico Cuba Uruguay and Colombia appealed to 14 other Latin American nations to join in mediating the Bolivia Paraguay conflict. They called for joint action to prevent further aggression and to set November negotiations toward a peace pact.

Man Kicked by Horse Suffers Broken Jaw in Accident
