Three Car Crash Kills Renovo Man

A three vehicle crash on Route 6 near Union City killed Elden Sipes 37 of Renovo. Harry Firth 76 of Spartansburg and James Beattie of Union City were involved. Sipes died from a fractured skull at Union City Memorial Hospital and Beattie was listed in fair condition at Union City Hospital. Firth was taken to St. Vincent Health Center in Erie after the collision. Police noted a separate earlier incident with a youth struck by a car. Joseph Hanley 15 of Centerville was treated at Titusville Hospital in satisfactory condition. Additional minor damage and burglary checks were reported in the last 24 hours.

Marks Tab Doubles That Of Vigorito

Washington US Representative Marc Marks spent more than double what former Erie congressman Joseph Vigorito did in 1976 campaign funds. The FEC report on 860 candidates shows Marks raised about 46 percent from individuals, loans and party committees, while Vigorito drew 86 percent from political action committees. Vigorito posted a $1,345 surplus. Marks carried a $15,736 debt as Pennsylvania spent $2.72 million for the 235 seats.

Burglar Nets Over $100 In Break-In Here

City police investigated two incidents yesterday a burglary at 626 East Main Street where about 70 dollars in cash a .22 rifle and cigarettes were taken and damage to a back door estimated at 20 dollars a second report at 53 Oakley Avenue involved BB gun damage to storm windows with 25 dollars of loss. Police interviewed neighbors and continued the investigations.
