Ekins Airship Beats Typhoon In Pacific Race Return

United Press reports Ekins airship on the Hawaii Clipper outran a typhoon from Guam to Wake Island in 12 hours 48 minutes covering 1660 miles. The craft led rivals in a world round trip, entering the lagoon at 7 28 p m local time as repairs and sleep preparations followed en route to Midway Island.

GE Reports 1936 Third Quarter Net Income Rise

General Electric Company shows net income of 26.58 million dollars for the period ending September 30, 1936, equal to 92 cents a share on capital stock, up from 17.21 million or 60 cents per share in the same 1935 period.

Motorists and road boosters in Corry and vicinity plan a large parade and ceremony Saturday October 17 to formally open the new highway from Little Cooley to Riceville. Four Erie Residents Die In Two Auto Accidents

Three Erie residents died when their car collided head on with a tree on Route 20 three miles west of Conneaut. Amanda Yard and William Gites, both of Erie, were seriously injured with multiple fractures and skull fracture. One child, Albert Crumblatt, seven, was fatally injured in a separate auto strike by Maplan Aida of Erie. Méreides Crotty of Erie escaped with minor injuries.

Night prowler shot at Wright Street window peeper

A resident on Wright Street fired a shotgun at a man peeping into a bedroom window shortly before midnight. The shot missed as the prowler fled within seconds. Police searched the area with no arrest and reported other peeping complaints but no confirmed cases.
