Germany seeks modification of trade treaty
Washington December 13 German ambassador Dr Hans Luther asked at the state department for modification of the most favored nation clause in the German American commercial treaty. He gave notice of intention to abrogate the treaty which expires Oct 14 1935 and said Germany wishes to renew it but remove the favored nation clause to fit two party financial commercial agreements it is negotiating with other nations. The 1925 treaty requires one year's notice before abrogation.

Missing for Year, Found death by own action in Jamestown Barn
JAMESTOWN Oct 13 Discovery of his body yesterday afternoon. Merle L. Steinrod 47 of 213 Brosdhend Avenue, a longtime photographer, died by self inflicted action inside a box like coffin in the barn behind his home. The device, six feet high two feet deep three feet wide, was lined with burlap sacks and had a full length door bolted from inside. A gun with one shell fired and a small bottle with its cork removed lay nearby as authorities pieced together the method used to end his life while assisting Mrs Ella M. Steinrod, his mother, to move belongings. The box door opened against a stairway and the interior included pipes and burlap drapery reaching the floor. The death followed his long mysterious disappearance about four years ago. The body was found by Alto Cooper of Allen Square Building who pried open the box after helping Mrs Steinrod move belongings.

Kane Youth Struck By Train At Kane Crossing
Charles L Hart Jr of Kane narrowly escaped serious injury when his 1931 sedan was struck by a passenger train at a private grade crossing on the B P highway near Pennsylvania Avenue in Kane. Hart, a state highway employee, was treated at the Community hospital for a broken left leg and contusions after being carried from the scene by Holgate plant workers and an ambulance. He said he did not see the train until after starting to cross the tracks and a passing curve blocked his view.
