Football rule test hints at sideline option change
The NCAA football rules committee eyed a sideline option allowing a team to take a ball on the sidelines 15 yards out and proceed to second down. Campbell argues the option adds plays and contact, while a test in practice and praise from observers at Corry and Stoughton high schools show mixed reaction. Names like Tre Wallerf, Stoughton lineman, and Ed Kieman from the New York Times appear in recollections of past games and anecdotes.
