Gasoline station fire threats Findley Lake unit damage

A gasoline station at Findley Lake operated by the Tyrnble Oil Company was heavily damaged by fire following an air warp explosion. The Interior of the restaurant area burned severely, with an estimated loss around 4000 dollars, partly insured. The service bay and exterior escaped major damage.

Possible foul play verdict in Chelton death

Coroner of Yenango County ruled John S. Chelton an Allegheny division railroad engineer died from unnatural causes and possibly foul play. Chelton, 50, was found after being run over by a freight train on September 20 between Dunrom and Center street crossings. his watch, pocket book, and $4.50 were missing and a deep wound suggested a preexisting injury. Authorities say the investigation was thorough and ongoing, with county detectives reviewing all clues.

Death claims Mrs A L Smith in Corry home

Following a year long illness Mrs Helen M Smith wife of Dr A J Smith suffered a sudden heart attack at 9 o clock this morning dying at her home 810 East South Street Corry. Born in Wayne Township September 8 1888 she was a well known Corry resident daughter of Mrs and Mrs Sum Hill survived by her husband father and three brothers Ralph Fred and Leon Hill and one sister Mrs LovL Schramling. Private services will be held Monday at 2 o clock at her residence Interment will be Pine Grove Cemetery Martha Bell of Candor New York visiting as guest of Mrs Weed currently in Corry.

Tragedy As Launch Sinks In Mexican River

A river launch in Vera Cruz state capsized after a large wave near Tlapacoyan. Thirty people are believed drowned with eleven bodies recovered so far, according to a United Press dispatch.

Interpretation Parley Results Widely Differ

United Press reports on the MacDonald Hoover talks show divergent readings of the joint statement. Officials say the draft was a product of many hands and pencils and not a fixed treaty, with Stimson and others challenging public interpretations. Ralph S. Dewey superintendent of the Corry Public Schools was elected president of the Northwestern District of the Pennsylvania State Education Association at the Meadville meeting. Extradition Refused in Pittsburgh Slaying Case

Plant Foremen Banquet At Reed Hotel In Warren

Sharon District Attorney’s Home Targeted by Dynamite Blast

The Sharon Mercer road home of District Attorney Len H. Maclay was blasted with dynamite destroying porch and part of the living room. The family of Mr and Mrs Mackay and a daughter escaped injury. Investigators were called, no clues found. Maclay later spoke of recent prohibition activity and a raid on Sharon Country Club the night before its arrival banquet. Body not to be exhumed in O'Donnell case

Censorship Fight Sways Senate Liberals on Literature

United Press reports a Senate vote trimmed federal censorship of foreign literature after a clash between liberal and Protestant groups. Bray son Cutting led a compromise to remove the broad ban but keep an indecent literature clause. Five Additional Witnesses Called in Lobby Probe

Washington Oct 12 Five additional witnesses including two tariff commission members and two sugar organization heads were summoned by Chairman Caraway to testify at the opening hearing next Thursday. Child Slayer Examined by State Alienist

George King is reported to have been examined by Warren State Hospital alienist Dr. H. Mitchell to determine if he caused the death of his one year old nephew George Laverne Ormeber. County Detective LeRoy Searci and District Attorney Hertst confirmed the examination. findings were expected soon.
