reports say the French submarine Ondine with 42 aboard is overdue at Bizerta off Tunis amid storms. Cherbourg trials started Oct 1 and radio silence prompts a full search by naval authorities. City schools will close Friday morning at 11 to allow teachers to attend the Northwestern Division meeting of the Pennsylvania State Educational Association at Academy High School in Erie. The federal state crop reporting service says Pennsylvania will harvest about 31,618,000 bushels, down about 4,000,000 from September 1 forecast. Mrs Hifrida Kellogg widow of B A Kellogg, a Columbus resident, died suddenly yesterday afternoon while sewing at 240 Pultoast Jamestown. She was 46 and died alone before being found at four o clock. Survived by two daughters and three sisters. Burial planned in Columbus. funeral arrangements pending.
