The Japan Meteorological Agency reported Typhoon Emma struck Marcus Island with 121 mph center winds and heavily damaged the island’s observation post. No casualties were reported among the 37 Japanese meteorologists stationed there.
On the University of Mississippi campus Monday James Meredith returned to class amid jeers and a cafeteria incident that left broken glass at his table. Marshals kept watch as about 270 students shouted while federal officials urged acceptance of federal desegregation actions.
A Corry YMCA incident prompts renewed faith in youth as Sterling Wees, general secretary, reports finding a $20 bill in his car with a note reading Mr Wees for fights. He suspects a local youths collection funded the money.
UN delegates anticipate further exchanges after President Dorticos blasted the United States. A second crash near Lake Pleasant left Gary Dillon, 17, uninjured. his car slid off the road and struck a pole, with 160 dollars auto damage. Police note ongoing cleanup and local theft investigations by Bluefield officers.
Bartow based Frajik Murphy and Barlow steel fabricating firm announced completion of a Saturn rocket launching pad, claimed as the nation’s largest. The pad awaits injection and transport to Cape Canaveral. Company reported two million pounds of steel used in the project.

About 33 people were arrested as protesters shouted traitor and assassin phrases while UN guards escorted individuals from the hall. The street confrontation followed Dorticos’s speech, with about 300 Castro opponents marching nearby.
The Corry Area Joint School Committee named Norman Smith from Spring Creek and Rexford Webb of Cent Township to serve three months on a new bill committee formed after ethics concerns over a school equipment purchase. The panel will meet weekly and two further members will join in January.
