Girl Found Slain in Hotel Ends Probe Into Auto Fatality

Miss Marjorie O Donnell daughter of John O Donnell city editor of the Pittsburgh Gazette was found slain in a Washington hotel room. Dexter C Dayton a Kansas City life insurer was arrested charged with the murder after an alleged confession that he strangled her in a drunken stupor. Police said a note implied self harm by Dayton and that a quarrel preceded the killing. O Donnell formerly lived in Uniontown and Pittsburgh and worked for the National Geographic magazine.

New Club House Opens for Corry Woman's Club

The Corry Woman's Club celebrated the opening of its new home at 183 Mott Street with a public reception and afternoon program. Over 150 members and guests attended as the former Shiney Property was remodeled into two stories providing clubhouse and Junior Department quarters. The event featured remarks by club leaders, musical numbers, and a lively evening program, with refreshments served and a grand reception concluding the day.

Will Vote on New Pastor at Baptist Church

Members of the Baptist church will meet after Thursday evening’s mideweek service to vote on extending a call to Rev. Bineal A. Heals of Wheaton Til to become pastor of the Vocal church. The prayer service will be led by local ministers as part of the church events on September 28. Announcement was made today that Rev. W. J. Ford of Celoron will preach and conduct services at the Wendley church Sunday in memory of Mrs. Wendley.

France withholds decision on parley

Paris October 9 United Press reports the French government will delay accepting Britain's invitation to a five power disarmament conference. A two week study is planned to examine British proposals while ministers weigh cruiser and submarine issues. The cabinet will review a detailed report from Navy Minister Georges Leygues.

Traffic over Route 6 preemption set by city measure

Deputy Coroner Mark Fullom continued his inquiry into the death of William Kelly, struck on West Smith Street by a car driven by Mrs. J. H. Snyder of Erie. The incident left Kelly dead within minutes. the accident damaged the car and caused a fire. Authorities sought Kelly’s address and relatives, with fragments including an Ireland address. City Council advanced Bill 588 to designate a Roosevelt highway through street and grant it precedence over others, mandating stops for entering traffic and revising stop arrangements on North Centre and Center streets.

Federal Judge F P Selig ruled the revocation of the Monongahela Beverage Company permit by prohibition authorities justified by the evidence. The company had sued the prohibition commissioner and administrator to set aside the revocation of its permit to manufacture non beer.

Man Held on Car Theft Charge in Pittsburgh Area

Archie Getty of Washington, Pennsylvania, was ordered held pending a hearing on a charge of violating the national motor vehicle theft act. In the same case, James Spragg of Washington has been exonerated and discharged for lack of evidence.

Corry Man Is Hurt At Erie

Corry resident Mhontus Sayer of 718 West Mat Street, a pipe fitter at Freister Genomotive Works, fell from the top of an engine yesterday morning suffering a broken wrist and abdominal bruises. He was taken to Hamet hospital where he is recovering and expected to return home in a few days.

School Board Meets Tonight in Library Basement

Members of the Board of Education will meet in a regular monthly session in the school offices in the basement of the Library building this evening. Only routine business will come before the meeting as Secretary Geiger was late this afternoon. Max Loeb of Cincinnati is a business visitor in the city today.
