Staff Sgt. John C. Sexton Jr., 23, of Warren Ohio, was released near Loc Ninh seventy miles north of Saigon after more than two years as a prisoner. He walked barefoot for eight hours to safety, carried a map from captors, and was in generally good condition despite sore feet and a possible arm wound. He was captured Aug 12 1969 near An Loc with the 2nd Squadron 1st Armored Cavalry Regiment.

The Crime Commission probes how the deal slipped through late Shafer administration. Overruns total about 12 million, with disputes over bidding and signatures.
Officials at Bell Telephone in Warren investigate the theft of an estimated 20 miles of copper wire from Welch Hill road between Corry and Spartansburg. The heist could total 70,000 to 100,000 feet of wire weighing 2,000 to 3,000 pounds with a market value up to 1,700 dollars. The wire, recently leased by Bell, was out of service, and the theft was discovered by passersby. State Police at the Corry substation are investigating with no leads yet.
