Defective voting machines threaten Pa November vote
In Harrisburg, officials warn only about two thirds of Pennsylvania 6,416 voting machines likely usable for the November 6 election. Mechanical defects may force 1,425 machines out of polling places, with 500 more Philadelphia machines delayed by litigation. Commonwealth Secretary Beamish condemns Allegheny County machines as prone to cheating, while Westinghouse works to recondition models for approval. Several counties report machines with similar flaws and poses security concerns over vote tampering and neutral status of voting positions.
