The infant Carra Bashold died after a German shepherd in a Starvation state partially devoured the baby while Bashold, 24, left her in an East Harlem apartment to fetch $100 from a hospital. The DA’s office said there was no culpability and the prosecution would not serve a proper legal purpose.
Harrisburg AP The state Transportation Commission approved 189 million dollars from a special fund to complete 10 highway projects including bridges in need of immediate repair. Local lawmakers pushed for added projects such as Venango County Pa 8 relocation, State College Bypass, and a Susquehanna River bridge at Sunbury. Funding splits 70-30 federal to state, with projects spanning Berks, Philadelphia, Allegheny, and Armstrong counties among others.
Harrisburg AP says PennDOT studies a tolling plan for Interstate 90 through Pennsylvania with toll booths near state borders to shift costs onto out of state drivers. Funding and federal repayment questions complicate any move, with tolls possibly funding a DuBois Ebensburg expressway and other projects.
