The YMCA Newcomers Club sponsors a baking contest and social on October 18 from 1 to 3 p.m. at a central location with three categories pies pastries cakes and cookies. Pre-registration by October 16 requires a 50 cent entry fee. prizes include three dollars and two one-dollar awards per category.

Bridge club members and guests played a five and one half table Howell session at the Corry Motor Inn with finalists led by W E Dodds and James Lundy. Regular play returns next Wednesday at 7 30 p.m. The following week the group plans a charity game for CHEER Inc. Proceeds will support the organization.
