District Attorney Damian Mc Laughlin said this afternoon Erie County authorities do not plan to file charges against Jamed Wam mer in the event he fires. Mc Laughlin said action against the youth will be brought by Craw ford County authorities and that it will likely be for larceny of an automobile. The 16 year old Gil Mills boy James Hammer was shot through the head when he tried to ram a State Police roadblock at Union City Monday night and is expected to live. He is listed in critical condition. Surgeons removed bullet fragments from his head and say he has a better than 0 20 chance to live. The shooting occurred while Hammer led a chase in a stolen car driven by Lewis Penman and Pvt. Dick Sullivan.
Garbage collector Lawrence Nichols says the West Washington Street building to house the bulldozer and truck does not meet his supplied specs. Walls reduce interior space by 16 inches, blocking doors and entry for both vehicles. The city has not collected rent, arguing the site was to shelter the bulldozer only.
The Community Chest in Corry aims to raise 32115 this year as local citizens businesses and industrial plants donate. Attorney William Petite as general chairman announced plans to open October 14 with a kickoff event and to name sub chairmen across Corry and nearby areas before week’s end.
