Tax Cut Bill Goes Before House in Nixon Plan

The House faces a tax cut bill totaling 15.4 billion dollars over three years as part of Nixon's economic program. Despite AFL-CIO opposition led by George Meany, the Ways and Means Committee proposal narrows business relief by about 5.5 billion and boosts individual cuts by 3.5 billion. Meany calls the plan a tax bonanza for business totaling 70 billion over a decade, while criticizing accelerated depreciation and investment tax credits. The House vote, slated for Wednesday, follows a prior rejection of vetoing Nixon's six month pay raise delay.
