Five Injured In Crash At McKean One Lane Bridge
Five people were injured Saturday in a head on crash on a one lane bridge on Grubb road near McKean. Richard D Gruel 21 and his wife Arketta of RD 4 Erie were taken to St Vincent’s Hospital with head injuries. Vera B Will 20 of Hersheyge driving the truck carrying her daughter Linda two and Lyvita Me Atlee 49 of Edinboro were treated for minor injuries and released. Police said both cars failed to yield the right of way across the bridge.

Torch Sets Off $4,000 Fire At Phelps Co
Fire at the Phelps Goal Co. plant caused a $4,000 blaze when an acetylene torch ignited alcohol and a tank exploded. The basement interior was gutted and a $2,000 truck tractor destroyed. Fire Chief Lawrence B. Scully put damages at $4,000 to structure and $3,000 to contents. The firm is owned by Loren Phelps.

Doctor Slain In Murder At Own Hands In PA
In Jeannette Pennsylvania physician Dr Russell Garman 46 and patient Gerald Alland 24 were killed when Alland shot the doctor then turned the revolver on himself after being confronted by Garman and other physicians over alleged malpractice. Coroner and police deemed the deaths murder followed by self-inflicted injury.
