Pittsburgh papers shut down as strike halts presses

On October 3 Pittsburgh's three daily papers ceased printing amid a strike by spalling room employees. The Sun-Telegraph and Press in the afternoon joined the Post-Gazette in refusing work and pay, leaving 78000 secular readers to rely on out-of-town papers and radio for news.
