Navy Man Released In Murder Of Son
Navy petty officer Garvin R. Hill was freed after prosecutors dropped the indictment for murder of his 27 month old son Richard Allen Hill. A circuit judge ruled a police statement could not be used because Hill had not been informed of rights or had counsel, citing the Mirana decision. The case stemmed from alleged abuse and the boy’s July 16 1965 death at the Meridian Naval Auxiliary Air Station.
