In Hanandoah Pennsylvania John Bud Angst general manager of WPAN and Walsh in Lansford waived a hearing on a libel warrant. Angst jailed on December court session bail set at 1000 dollars. State Rep. John McDonald Girardville Democrat who sought a third term filed the libel charge claiming a ratio commentary during the campaign.
Washington reports that many Marine and Air Force units rushed to danger areas will be homeward bound by Christmas. Marine forces from the West Coast head for home via the Panama Canal in December and some Air Force units have already flown back, with more to follow, easing fears for families. AEC also announced a low yield nuclear test in Nevada, the latest in the series since September 1951.
James Roscoe Dearing 71 of 259 West Washington, Corry, former Penelec district storekeeper and longtime city councilman, died at Corry Memorial Hospital after a heart attack at home. He served on council since 1958, coached as street director, and held Masonic and church roles. Survived by wife Lav ing, five sons, two stepdaughters, one sister, and numerous grandchildren. Funeral and burial plans announced by Bracken Funeral Home with services by Rev. Wal ter Gilliland.
The Third Class City Code requires the council to name a new streets director to fill the vacancy caused by J. R. Dearing's death. If not filled within 20 days, the court may appoint a qualified person. Dearing's term ends December next year.
Vatican City AP reports Pope John XXII, 81, canceled his Wednesday audience as influenza struck. Vatican officials had earlier denied plans for prostate surgery before Christmas. aides said a minor cold worsened, with a potential operation flagged for December 11 after a recess of the Bramante Council.

Washington AP reports consumer price costs declined one tenth of one percent in October 1962, the first drop that year. Lower meat prices helped offset prior increases, with the index at 106.0 percent of the 1957-59 average and 190.1 on the 1947-49 base. Wage adjustments affecting about 1 million workers partially tied to living costs include one cent hourly raises for 780,000 auto and auto parts workers and 110,000 farm equipment and aerospace workers, plus two cent cuts for 11,000 others. The October level was 13 percent higher than a year earlier.

The Wheeling Downs stable fire yesterday killed 25 horses, with the blaze continuing to burn at the Wheeling track. Fire Chief McFadden says a careless smoker may have started the fire, under investigation by track superintendent Sampson and authorities.

In Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania a two story frame home home of Clarence and Mrs Shaver burned killing Virginia 14 Cynthia 6 and Susan 2 all sisters who slept in a front bedroom. Other children and a young man who lived there escaped as did Margaret 16 and John Thomas 19 though he was injured. Clarence Shaver 56 the father suffered a stroke and was hospitalized in serious condition with authorities withholding news of the fire from him.
Kennedy and Anastas Mikoyan are to discuss Cuba and the broader Cold War in a White House meeting. U S officials say Mikoyan arrived in Washington after a Havana trip and will confer with Kennedy amid calls for a renewed dialogue on outstanding issues.
