Plot to restore Russ monarchy alarms Bolsheviki in Petrograd

Reports from Petrograd say a movement to restore the Russian monarchy is gaining support among nobles and some Bolshevik factions. Leaders like Generals Brissufloff are suspected to back a monarchist coup as Russia faces pressure from Germany and internal upheaval.

Theft Reported of 30000 Dollars at Higbee Store

Cleveland November 20 Between 25000 and 20000 dollars in cash and goods were stolen from Higbee Department Store. Watchmen were locked in a vault and the robbers escaped after more than an hour of work. Two guards were handcuffed together with a third bound during the burglary. No arrests have been made. Leather goods and other valuables were also taken.

La Follette Investigation Postponed

In Washington the inquiry into charges of disloyalty against Benner La Follette of Wisconsin was postponed today. Senator Pomerdne, chairman of the committee, said that Redges of Senator Ween caused the delay and that the postponement was not intended to embarrass the inquiry.

Union City Rail Worker Killed in Train Collision

Union City R R man Prod Carle an Erie Railroad operator was killed at Union City when a westbound tram struck him as he delivered orders from a tower. He suffered head injuries and internal damage, died after 10 AM. He had previous Salamanca accident and survived by parents four siblings. Funeral planned in Talon City Wednesday.

Dixon Warns of Smallpox in the State

Harriaburg November 26 1918 Dr Samuel G Dixon state health commissioner reports smallpox in twelve counties with 49 quarantined. He warns it may worsen without public cooperation and notes ongoing control work amid wartime strain and cross border spread from Cumberland MD.

Meadville Opens New Market House Amid Crowds

Meadville on November 23 saw hundreds attend the opening of the new market house. Congestion filled the flint floor as signs and stalls sold out and farmers waited outside. The Chamber of Commerce served hot coffee and sandwiches to visitors on a cold day, drawing favorable comment from the crowd. P. & E. Train Strikes Broken Switch Near Cola

A P. and E. division eastbound passenger train hit a broken frog at the Cola switch yesterday afternoon. The locomotive and carriages passed over before stopping. no wreck or injuries occurred. Crews later removed the broken track portions.

I. J. Skidmore Dies After Ill Health in City

I J Skidmore died last evening after months of failing health. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 4 p.m. from F Z Babbitt home and will be private. Survived by sisters Ary T San Bitt and MigS Skidmore, both of this city. He worked in railway executive roles in New York Chicago and Kansas City before returning to this city several months ago in ill health.

Mrs Blair Dies in Ritzville Widow of Dry Blair

Mrs S Desire Blair widow of the late Dry H Blair and former Corry resident died Sunday at her son’s home in Ritzville Washington. The remains will be brought to Corry for burial and are expected to arrive next Friday.

French Repulse German Attacks In Major Drive

The war office announced a complete repulse of all German attacks this afternoon. French troops north of HAL R04 strengthened their line after a morning advance, with prisoners taken and Bretons aiding the effort as General Metain's forces consolidate gains. The French commander may coordinate with Britons Hay for the broader push on Cambrai.

Tetanus Plot Discovered In National Army Vaccine

Washington reports a suspected nationwide plot by German agents to contaminate tetanus vaccine ampoules for the national army. New Deputy Coroner Appointed in City and County

Army and Navy Heads Arrive Home From France

Admiral Fletcher and Major General O Ry an with staffs returned to Atlantic Port on a French steamer from the battlefields of France. They refused to comment but declared Americans are facing rain and ink as enemies and will press ahead to finish the job. Congress Joan Dill of Washington was grazed by a bullet from a German sniper on the trip home. The vessel brought home 12 survivors from the Rochester which sailed weeks earlier.
