Back To School Dec 1 At CAHS

Superintendent Thomas R. Shupe announced CAHS will reopen December 1 with two shifts for junior and senior high students. Junior classes 8 15 am to 1 15 pm. seniors 1 15 pm to 6 18 pm. Six 48 minute periods no cafeteria. lunches to be brought. Elementary hours adjusted to 4 15 am start. dismissals 1 45 pm or 2 pm. Bus transportation eased. Wright School follows same schedule.

Shupe Expresses Gratitude After School Fire Recovery

Corry area school chief Thom as R. Shupe thanks the community for support during the post fire disruption. He praises parents teachers students and staff who helped reopen the Junior High and other areas not damaged by Decembers blaze. He also credits the Board of Education for insurance planning and notes state transportation reimbursement will be proportional. Community groups fire department Red Cross Salvation Army National Guard and local firms aided the effort.

A truck carrying highly explosive hydrogen leaked at the Highspire rest stop on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Pennsy Engine Strikes Car Injuring Mother and Children

A Pennsylvania Railroad diesel struck a car at Elk Street crossing, injuring mother Mrs. Michael Spraveri and her two daughters Linda and Vicki. Linda suffered a possible skull fracture, Vicki a cut above the eye and bruises. The mother and Linda were admitted to Corry Memorial Hospital. Vicki was expected to be released after treatment. Engineer Rankin said he traveled 1 to 20 mph as the car appeared suddenly, with horn and bell in use. Fireman Wujee and brakeman Lee assisted. the scene showed no track damage or mine debris, and the car was a total loss.
