Area Girl 6 Killed Playing With Rifle

A 6 year old girl died after a rifle discharge in her rural Erie County home. The child pulled a .32 caliber deer rifle from a rack while playing with siblings and fell, the weapon fired, and she sustained chest injuries. She died en route to St Vincent’s ER. Coroner Warren W. Wood ruled the death accidental. no autopsy planned.

Area Woman Hurt As Car Crashes Bridge

Walter Burek 42 and his wife Helen escaped serious injuries when their car left a dirt road and struck a bridge near Livstone Quarry Pond west of Union City. Burek told police he stopped to check his vehicle and collided with the bridge. Helen, 42, was treated at Stem Memorial Hospital and released. Vehicle damage was about 350.
