Winter Snow Begins Spark Enthusiasm From Children

Snow started around 7 30 this morning and in two hours brought a dramatic transformation that delighted children who woke up to a white world. The public was less enthused while police warned motorists to beware of icy roads until they adjust to winter driving conditions.

Mayor Egan Jailed Again In Aurora Incident

Aurora Mayor Paul Egan was jailed after attempting to crash a governor luncheon and demanding to see Governor William Stratton. Police said he obstructed officers during the incident, and he was taken to jail and then to a hospital for evaluation. Stratton left town after the event, and Egan remained hospitalized overnight. Charles A. Dimond, 54, longtime advertising executive at BHJ Heins Co., died at his Crafton home.

Driverless car runs wildkills woman injures seven

In Lutcher Louisiana a driverless car moved in circles on and off the highway killing Hyelyn Watson Jackson, 5, and critically injuring Frances Watson, 38. The two Baton Rouge residents were Negro. State trooper Joe Anselmo halted the vehicle by ramming a truck into its path after the car began rolling backward and wheel spinning for about 12 minutes. The unidentified female driver had been inside a cafe when the motor overheated and stalled.

Crash Kills 3 Four Injured in West Virginia

Three young men died and four others were injured in a two car crash near Morgantown West Virginia. Victims were Johnny J. Farrell 21 Jimmy Swiger 22 and Larry Brock 23 all of National. Survivors include Donnie Kincell 18 Kenny Cook 21 in serious condition Barry Taylor 18 and W E Huggins 18 in Morgantown report. The collision occurred on Route 7 near National with a late model convertible driven by Kincell and Huggins passenger in the other car. Police said head on impact sent the convertible over an embankment into a tree.
