Transmitting bear draws hunters for early season hunt
A 300 pound Sand Stone Springs bear in Warren County is tagged with a half-pound transmitter on a yellow orange collar with streamers and ear tags. Researchers from Penn State and state wildlife officials describe the bear’s movements and note transmitters help study normal bear wanderings while reducing nuisance captures. The last reported fix was two weeks ago about 0.6 airline miles from capture, with sightings by local hunters and residents.
