The disturbance stayed confined to Juro Bolivia's third city and mining center as the regime ordered a state of siege nationwide.
Officer ML Mead resigns after eleven years with the police amid friction with Chief John Ponan. The dispute centers on parking violation enforcement and Mead’s assignment concerns. He expected to be moved to a home Army hospital or another institution in coming days.

Senator Leroy Chapman of Warren Venango counties and Senator Charles R Mallory of Blair are named as potential candidates, with incumbent Senator Charles A Ealy signaling he will not seek another term.
