Mina Farmer Ends His Life
Despondency from a chronic illness led John Persons aged 73 to end his life with a revolver Sunday morning at his home near Sherman. His body was found by his wife Anna Persona in the barn. A retired farmer and bridge player, he lived in Sherman Findley Lake and Mina. He married Nettie Itmeyer in 1888. seven children were born, six surviving. Surviving children include Paul Persons and George Persons, with daughters Anns Cady and Edna Olson among others. He remarried Anna Anderson in 1919 after his first wife’s death in 1917. Also surviving are two half-brothers, one sister in Sweden, and thirteen grandchildren. He was a member of Sherman Lodge of Odd Fellows and Findley Lake Grange. Funeral is Tuesday at 2 p.m.
