China has detonated its most powerful nuclear device and fallout could reach the United States in days. A UPI newsmap shows the potential drift from a September atmospheric blast, with fallout having previously settled in parts of the northeast, notably Pennsylvania.
Washington AP reports China conducted its largest nuclear blast in 12 years with 4 megatons of force. Officials warn fallout risk in the United States depends on weather and rain. past tests showed low radiation but potential milk contamination. ERDA notes U.S. tests include a 16 megaton device.
President-elect Jimmy Carter will not name any Cabinet members before December 1. Spokesman Jody Powell said it would be premature to speculate on prospective appointees. Powell noted Carter favors waiting to assess economic indicators before proposing tax cuts and reorganization moves.
The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board may file charges against Dot's Cafe owners Mr and Mrs Charles W Hess at 2 West Main Street. Local officials advise on the likelihood of action as the board studies charges following recent visits to Corry.

Corry Police Chief Kenneth Nichols has been chosen to represent 14 northwestern counties on the statewide Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association juvenile committee.
