Bids opened November 1962 for a workshop project in the Warren County area. Documents indicate a single lump sum bid from Sventekship of County, with specifications showing bid details and award conditions.
At 9 30 last night two autos collided near the underpass on Route 6 at Columbus injuring two persons. Noel B Dodd 23 Jamestown drove a compact auto waste bound on Route 6 and failed to negotiate the curve. Anthony J Sanfilippo 24 Warren drove the eastbound car. Dodd suffered a head concussion and multiple injuries while Mrs Patricia E 21 was treated for broken teeth and released. Dodd’s condition listed as satisfactory. Estimated damages: Dodd gate 1200 Sanfilippo vehicle 800.
Corry Jamestown and Ajax Trot Works report limited layoffs as plants trim staff on temporary furloughs. About 25 workers at Corry Jamestown and vacation replacements have been furloughed while Ajax Trot Works reduces to a four day week for two weeks. Aero-Flow Dynamics cites contract cancellations as the cause of cuts with under 20 furloughed, and describes a seasonal reduction tied to oilfield equipment demand.
In Philadelphia area the Democratic incumbent Genevieve Blatt led the race for state secretary of internal affairs over Republican Aldrey Kelly. County tallies from 48 counties show Blatt with 2,147,329 votes to 2,144,045 for Kelly, while absentee ballots favored Kelly by about three to two. Blatt later led by 404 to 13,400 in absentee counts.
More than 800 Corry area parents attended Visitation Day as part of American Education Week. Wright School hosted 417 parents, Harding 34, Condhyay BS, Columbus 122, Concord 125, Corry Area High School 85. Thursday drew the bulk of visitors with tours continuing on other days. Corry Chapter of Future Teachers of America members served as guides.
A survey to evaluate Columbus Dam site in Pennsylvania will begin next week. Neilan Engineers of Somerset will conduct a biological, feasibility and land acquisition study for the Pennsylvania Fish Commission, with contour maps from serial photographs. The project aims to acquire about 210 acres for a dam and forestall motor boats, under a 1961 appropriation of 154,244 dollars.
Burma's military government announced yesterday it has suspended all imports from South Africa in protest against that country's racial policies. The report notes Burma's General Assembly recommended such a boycott. Burma imports about five million dollars yearly from South Africa.
On a crowded Manhattan street during a small nickel robbery of 34 cents in nickels dimes and checks valued at 545593 three gunmen were killed and a fourth wounded. Detectives and officers cornered them after a bank messenger resisted a smoke bomb and a shootout ensued injuring a detective and a bystander. Kenneth Cavanaugh and Albert Taylor aged 33 and 48, both from Queens, were killed along with Patrick Huston 35 also of Queens. Detective Jeremiah J. Howard 28 was critically wounded. Herman Levine a 50 year old bank messenger survived the incident after triggering a smoke bomb.
Wilkes-Barre police report the battered body of Netten Kundratik, 16, found buried beneath logs at Pittston dump, died from a punctured lung likely after being struck by a hit and run car. Pathologist Dr. Carlos Rodriguez says no sexual molestation and death occurred the night she disappeared.
U S officials say Castro threat to shoot down reconnaissance planes over Cuba lacks teeth due to Soviet control of antiaircraft missiles and ready jets. After Oct 27 loss, U2 flights paused about 10 days, then resumed at low and high altitudes over Cuba.

The Corry Community Chest Board voted at noon yesterday to immediately distribute 16 923 dollars from the United Fund drive to 17 Chest agencies. The Chest receives about 85 percent of UF receipts, Red Cross about 15 percent, with four large agencies getting initial quarterly payments and others receiving smaller annual totals. Total available funds amount to 45 112 dollars, with large beneficiaries YMCA 3239, Salvation Army 2134, Corry Hospital 2328, Erie County United Fund 1661. George W. Drayer, 60, was injured when his car hit a General Telephone Co pole while turning from Route 6 onto a secondary road west of Union City. He suffered a nasal laceration but refused medical aid. Auto damage was about $30. pole replacement costs around $100. Possible charges pending, Corry state police reported.
